Pinpointing the Problem Space

Scenario 1

Jennifer has heard many good things about the new Omakase restauraunt down the street and has decided to make a reservation to see if it’s worth the hype. However, she doesn’t know what to expect and how to prepare.

Scenario 2

Tony and his family are going to be in Seattle for a few days and would like to stop by International Distrcit for some good chinese food.

He wants to know some of the locals’ recommendations when it comes to Chinese food, activites to do there, and other tidbits he should know while spending time there.

Competitors and Inspiration

Direct Competitors

Google maps offers a similiar zoom in zoom out feature with influential specificties of the search depending on the users current range on the map.

Indirect Competitor

Trip Advisor offers insight into different places (locations, restaurants, sites). Most of it’s information is from users.

Google earth satisfies the users need of more specific information on certain areas

Inspiration

Barefoot World Atlas is an app targeted towards kids that allows them to interact with a map and learn more about the cultural customs within those areas, as well as its terrain, weather, transportation, etc.
